If I had to pick one pattern to wear for the rest of my life, it would be stripes. I am literally drawn to pretty much everything that has stripes. Besides the fact that they can be elongating and slimming, they are just a classic print that never goes out of style!

This past week I was out and about doing some returns and decided to do one of my weekly pop in’s to one of my favorite stores Kindred to pick out something for date night. Kindred which is located on the bottom level of Oak Park Mall (right outside the Nordstrom entrance) is filled with trendy and VERY reasonably priced item. It has become a go-to spot for me because with all of the boutiques inside of it, I can always find a winner!

Life has been a little busy lately, so Scott and I decided we needed a special night out, just the two of us. One of my favorite parts of date night (besides spending time with my one and onlyJ) is picking out my outfit! We don’t go out nearly as much as we used to and it gives me a chance to dress up more than I would do during the week.

So when I spotted this adorable striped top from Adorn inside Kindred, my wheels started turning. I immediately loved it for a couple of reasons, the colors (black and rust), the button details, the tie at the waist and the blousy fit. Now, how was I going to style it? One of my main things was that I wanted to be able to pair it with items I already owned. That’s when I remembered my amazing over the knee Marc Fisher boots I got a couple of seasons ago. These boots have the magical power of making my legs look extra long (which every short girl needs). The color was perfect with the rust stripe in the top! I also decided to pair this blousy top over super fitted legging style jeans for a good balance. And for me, everything looks better with my buttery black leather jacket…my favorite 3rd piece! Once I was able to visualize the full look in my head, I gave myself the go ahead to purchase some more stripes! Now all I need is for date night to come!
